[Bug]: Two plates of the same item (front and back) result in different valuation data #7

What happened?

I scanned the front and back of a book. These were each identified separately and were given different valuations.

What did you expect to happen?

I guess I expect there to be some way to associate the front and back of a single item -- e.g. a book, vinyl, trading card, etc. but also other objects with this property. I know it'll be hard for suppressing duplicates vs. identifying multiple instances of an object, but it looks like in the UI we tell the user to increment Quantity in the single record vs. scanning multiple instances of an object. (I'm not sure how we'd handle multiple instances of an object but with individually different condition attributes; maybe these would have to be separate scans/records.

Steps to reproduce

Open the catalog, navigate to the Tote containing these items. In the row-based listing of Tote contents, the valuation data (and some other attributres) appear different where the plates are just front and back of a single image.

Thanks for this one. We looked at having Ditto guess when a new photo is the back of an item you already have, and decided against it: a wrong guess would quietly merge two different things, which is worse than the duplicate. Instead we are making it easy to add the back (or spine) as another photo of the same item, right where you capture it, so it never becomes its own record in the first place. Each item can already hold several photos; the change is about making that obvious. I will update here when it is ready.

Ready; it goes live with the next deploy, and I will assign this back to you to try once it is.

When you add photos (New tote, Add items, or the phone camera flow), each photo after the first has a "+ Same item" toggle. Tick it on the back cover and it files as a second photo of the book you just shot instead of a new item. The counter shows how many items your photos will make ("3 photos queued, 2 items").
After a camera shot on a tote or case page, a button "Another photo of that item: back, spine" adds your next shot to the item you just captured.
On an item you already have, "+ Add photo" now sits under the main photo in both the side panel and the full item page.

Several copies of the same thing are still one photo plus a Quantity. Your two existing "Life on Mars" entries will need tidying by hand: keep one, add the other photo to it with "+ Add photo", and delete the extra.

@tcurtiss this is now live in Ditto v0.13.40. Could you give it a try and close the issue if it works for you (or tell us what is still off)?
